What Will You Be Doing?

In this role, you will utilize HMI tools to monitor incoming fiber, manage the drying processes, and oversee the production of pellets, ensuring their smooth movement into railcars. Your vigilance will also extend to safety-related concerns, which you will communicate directly to plant employees or the Plant Leadership team.

Your Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintaining Drax’s high standards of housekeeping within the department.
  • Utilizing SDS for all chemicals and ensuring all employees are trained on their use.
  • Completing all safety-related Plant Operator Development Program training requirements.
  • Participating in communication via company radios, adhering to Drax’s Radio Usage Procedure.
  • Leading and supporting compliance with Safety, Production, Quality, and operating policies.
  • Maintaining composure during emergencies and directing plant employees effectively.
  • Troubleshooting both minor and major upset conditions and providing direction.
  • Offering technical training support and mentorship to peers and Operators.
  • Participating in incident and accident investigations as required.
  • Coordinating holiday planning for continual coverage of necessary positions.
  • Liaising with other Drax management, including HR, Safety, and Training.
  • Providing leadership in the safe operation of all equipment used in pellet production.
  • Monitoring and analyzing the HMI system continuously.
  • Reviewing notes with cross-shift Operators to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Managing fiber needs and coordinating with the Loader Operator and Production Team Leads.
  • Communicating housekeeping needs to maintain a clean pellet mill.
  • Conducting testing and completing necessary reports on moisture content.
  • Directing and communicating with all employees regarding fiber mixes and rail car loading.

  • Proficient in operating mobile equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Capable of completing forms and basic checklists related to cleanup and rail car loading.
  • Adaptable to changes in work schedules or tasks.
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in heavy industry operations is a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
